NYC performance announcement

Very cool music ... I love this piano etude that I’m listening to as I write this ... I’m reminded of bits of [Steve] Reich, [Philip] Glass, Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins and Radiohead, intertwined with an aching longing and lots of integrity.
— Vernon Reid (Living Colour)

The Brooklyn-based composer Andrew Shapiro has announced his 11th studio release entitled “Soft-Shapes.”

Arriving October 17th via Airbox Music, it features Shapiro at the piano creating an intelligently soothing landscape of ambient, classical, emo and minimalist sensibilities.

The single “Aik” draws its name and inspiration from the Cocteau Twins track “Aikea-Guinea.”

About this new project Shapiro says: “After having a child, I’m putting a toe back in the water. It’s my first album in nine years…and I happen to have a nine year old son at home….there’s certainly a coincidence there!”

For Fans Of: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Philip Glass, Dustin O’Halloran, Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi

To mark the occasion, on Sunday, October 19th, he will perform selections from the new album along with highlights from his extensive solo piano catalog.
