Though his famous McDonald’s residency drew to a close in 2013 —following a renovation the piano was removed— Shapiro returned to his solo piano style with Piano 3 (2016). The opening track, the Cocteau Twins-inspired Royal Purple, conveys a rich serenity and an almost stillness in Ambient calm which pervades the album.
